Left hanging

This is the only book I've read about Beryl and it has left me with so many unanswered questions. Since Karen got syphilis from her husband did she pass it on to Denys who then gave it to Beryl resulting in the birth defects of her child? Was Messenger Boy ever tamed? I thought she had an open marriage with Manfield, why did he turn against her! Was he also a homosexual like Jock?

Wow! I totally missed all that. Where in the book did it say Karen got syphillis? Or that her marriage to Mansfield was open? I can see where you would assume Jock is a homosexual. I kinda felt the same way. The impression I got from Mansfield was more of a mama's boy. His disappointment came when Beryl didn't conform to his ideal of the perfect mother.
I would also like to know what became of Messenger Boy!

I think Lorraine is referencing some items outside of the book possibly? Beryl was real after all so some of the book is fictionalized even though it is based on a real person's life. I am also wondering on these questions now, interesting thoughts!

I am left hanging, too. I wondered about Jock's sexual orientation for a minute but I didn't read anything alluding to it in this book.

I also had a wondering as to Jock's sexual orientation. The whole thing with Manfield thing was horrid in the end. Ah the prince......
