RE: Kemi seems to make a spur-of-the-...

Kemi's decision to move to Sweden was influenced by her unsuccessful dating life, Connor's attraction to her and his control of and power over her professional career and growth in the organization. Her sister, Kehinde, who she loved and respected, was highly supportive of her move to a new, exciting life to explore. I also think Kehinde enjoyed thinking vicariously about it herself, even though she was happy and wouldn't change her life.

I thought Kemi felt like she needed to step away from her comfort zone to see if she could be successful on different terms and to experience something she felt Kehinde wanted but wasn’t able to do.

I think it was just another "going with the feeling" decision that she tended to make, with a touch of, "the grass may be greener on the other side". She may have been award winning in her job, but she was lacking in her ability to weigh the consequences of her life choices.
Like Cynthia, I think her sister wanted to live a little vicariously through her.

Her twin sister said go for it and she valued her opinion. She was a super success at her job but not so in her private life concerning love. She would like to find the right man and marry. Her married boss wanted to have an affair and she certainly did not want to get involved romantically with him.

RE: Kemi seems to make a spur-of-the-...

Kemi took a risk taking the decision but she could also afford to take that risk.
Kemi had already established herself professionally and was secure enough in a professional life to think that she could/succeed in Sweden. (and also knew in the back of her mind that professionally could always get another job because of her past successes).

Kemi was expecting/hoping her personal love life would improve.

Her sister encouraged her to go but also said, she could come back if it did not work out.

RE: Kemi seems to make a spur-of-the-...

If you are a young, successful business person, then a new job offer in a totally different location sometimes sounds like an adventure and fun. As Kemi learns, everywhere YOU go... there YOU are. But also, in her defense, her twin sister encouraged her. Having a trusted best friend, and in thism case someone even more special - a twin, to encourage a decision can be a real catalyst. In addition, Kemi has been searching for a love interest, and new "exotic" locations might seem like the answer. Finally, Kemi can always move home. There's a nothing-to-fear element to this big decision. I did not find her acceptance of the position in Sweden to be surprising at all.

Kemi was depressed with her life as is was right now. She had had bad dating experiences, her boss had a crush on her. When she discussed the offer with her sister, Kehinde urged her the take the job. I am sure this was the push that Kemi needed to go ahead.

Out of all the women, Kemi had the best opportunity for growth and change by moving to Sweden. She saw an opportunity and took it. She knew in her heart that she could always go back to America, unlike Brittany who was married and Muna who had no where else to go.

I think she wanted to do something new and different, she was young and had no reason not to. If I had been in her position I would have wanted to do the same thing too.
