Rosalind wanted to be accepted for the brilliant scientist that she was. If her colleagues knew about the relationship between Jacques and herself, they may feel that she was kept in the research group because of her relationship with the 'boss', not because of her scientific contributions.

As stated above, Rosalind wanted to be seen as having earned her position, she wanted to keep her personal and work lives separate. Her colleagues were alluding that Jacques had a reputation with women, although she didn't really listen to them, I think the warnings lingered in the back of her mind.

Rosalind is a private person. She is also unsure of Jacques's true feelings and intentions. Rosalind doesn't want anyone to think she is getting special privileges due to her relationships. After learning of Jacques's wife, she wants nothing to do with him. I would be embarrassed that I didn't know the truth and believed a liar. There are usually clues if you look and follow your inner voice.

I think she ran when she heard he was married. She also did not want her colleagues to think she advanced because of her relationship. I also wonder if she regretted her decision when she realized that everyone knew that jacque had affairs. I think she might have stayed if he had not entered into another relationship with another scientist
