Her legacy is that she persevered in a mostly man's field and didn't take the easy way. She promoted scientific accuracy and didn't give in to scientific competition by shortening her work. Her work stood up to time and her DNA work was monumental in providing a background for further work.

She would want others to persevere in science for the sake of humanity. Rosalind discovered, through myriad steps, most of the structure of DNA. Others stood on her shoulders to complete the mystery. Lesser talented scientists completed the project without giving her credit. This was the professional goal that she was pursuing at the expense of family gatherings and wishes, being ostracized by other male scientists, working through the pain of illness,

At a time when a woman's place was in the home 'obeying" the norms of society, Rosalind was a trailblazer in a profession unheard of for a woman. The finding of DNA was the collective beginning of women's scientific discoveries.Rosalind's passion was for the greater good and nothing was going to disuade her from her mission.
