Vittorio tells Rosalind to protect her science "at all costs," while her brother encourages her to fight for her science. What do you think they mean? Do you believe she does this, and if so, is she successful?

The men understood that others would take advantage of her but Rosalind still fell into the role of a woman because she didn't want to cause problems, she was happy were she was working and didn't really except that she belonged there herself. She seemed surprised that her work was considered good.

Vittorio and her brother want her to finish her project. They know she is close to solving the mystery of the DNA structure. They know other scientists wish to get her data and credit for being the first in the race. Rosalind did not like seeing the project as a race. She tried to follow all the steps and prove each one on the way to her discovery. She trusts only a select few and felt betrayed even by some.

I think you are both correct - she is close, others want her data, she does need to protect it, but Rosalind reacts like anyone who is uncompetitive (women and men) then and now. She doesn't see it as a race between individuals, she just wants to do the best job she can, find the answers, and help humanity. Vittorio and her brother realize that others see this as a race and want the credit.
