What parallels do you see between the experiences and activism of black and white women students at Yale? What are the differences? Do you still see these similarities and differences in today’s society?

RE: What parallels do you see between ...

I was really surprised that the Black women at Yale seemed to be in a better position than the white female students. They seemed to have a support system that welcomed them that the others didn't.

RE: What parallels do you see between ...

I found this topic in the book to be the most compelling because of how it mirrored the more recent experiences in the #metoo women's movement. Women of color did not feel that their experiences were validated or accounted for by white women who already enjoyed more privilege by virtue of race than they did. We made the same mistake again nearly forty years later. Hopefully, our eyes are more open now and we will be open to not only better including our sisters of color, but following their lead as we continue to advance the rights and progress of women everywhere.
