I agree with Sandra and Lisa, as it seemingly was her body's signal that an action or reaction was positive, good, or a sign that she was headed in the right direction...a compass, so to speak. I thought the twitching ovary was Brown's way of letting the reader believe that there was hope, a spark so to speak, that Margie could overcome her motherless childhood and become a loving, caring, and fulfilled mother...Symbolizing that inside of Margie,was this ova,alive and waiting for the time when she would be or could be a worthy mother.
Brown, I believe, had a solid reason for including this action in her work, and to me, it was not a silly or pointless notion/action.
