October's gift for "feeling" other's emotions

October claims that she can tell what a person is feeling just by touching that person. She is socially limited by her intense sensitivity to others. How has this gift been a blessing or curse to October?

RE: October's gift for "feeling" other's emotions

I found October's "gift" very intriguing and could relate to that gift to some degree. It is very easy for me to empathize with other people. When someone is happy, it is a grand thing but if someone is very sad or depressed, I can feel myself sinking down with them. It is very draining and I sometimes have to distance myself. So my answer would be that her gift was both a blessing and a curse depending on whose feelings she was tuning in to. For her, sometimes not knowing until she physically touched them would have been the hardest part as it appeared as though the touching really amplified her connection.

As a performance artist, being able to tap into others' emotions must be a plus. For October, this rawness that she feels when around others and sensing their feelings makes her own life so limited. I think her gift made her more sensitive to Joe than most people would be.

This seems more like a curse than a gift to me and sometimes we see her having to withdraw from the world for a period of time to recuperate from having too much exposure to the feelings of others.

I think there are people who are more sensitive and attuned to the emotions of others. I think it would be tiring.

This seems like a curse to others - they can’t have personal space at times. Feelings can be complicated and take some time to sort through and come to a conclusion.
