Books about the Cambodian Genocide

I have been seeing lots of other books about the Cambodian genocide around bookstores lately. I wonder if anyone has read these books that relate to In the Shadow of the Banyan and if they would be good companion reads. Please recommend titles.

RE: Books about the Cambodian Genocide

I just finished Never Fall Down by Patricia McCormick. It is a young adult novel about a 12 year old that survives the genocide. It is based on the real life story of Arn Chorn-Pond. It is excellent. I think it would pair well with In the Shadow of the Banyan.

RE: Books about the Cambodian Genocide

I found lots at Amazon that sound like great companion reads:

First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers by Loung Ung
Pol Pot: Anatomy of a Nightmare by Philip Short
Golden Leaf, A Khmer Rouge Genocide Survivor by Kilong Ung
Survival in the Killing Fields by Haing Ngor and Roger Warner

So many sad stories of brutality.

RE: Books about the Cambodian Genocide

I have never read a novel about Cambodia's genocide but I am of an age that I remember the news saying that Cambodia would fall when we left Vietnam.
