Why do you think Leo indicated to Bea that she should publish the last "Archie story"?

Weren't the Archie stories really about Leo? Is this possibly just another way for him to focus on him? Did he really care about Bea's growth as a writer? I think not - he even left her manuscript on a park bench. Leo didn't invest much thought into what might be good for Bea - this was an easy out for him again.

I think this was Leo's way of trying to put closure to that episode which affected all of their lives and give himself permission to take off. Once the story was out of his hands, maybe published, he was free of it. I think he definitely knew that the manuscript would be picked up by Paul--he saw Paul on the path that morning and knew it was his regular path. He also had to think that Paul would get the story back to Bea. I don't think any of this excuses Leo; I just don't think he had enough morality to ever face the situation.

I think it was interesting after Leo's initial reaction to the story that he took the time to reread and edit it. But then it left it on the bench and went off with another woman. Maybe that was his way of letting go of the story or just his way of moving back into his old irresponsible habits. He did have drugs on him that day after all.
