Gender

The narrator and central character of the book is a woman, and a major focus is women’s experience in the Kurdish resistance. Does the author treat men with anger or with sympathy and compassion? Is she fair to them? After reading this book, how would you describe gender relations in the Kurdish community? How are women treated differently by Kurdish men than by those whom they are fighting?
