When October interviews Joe, she says, "Tell me what [art] means to you." He replies that "[A]rt is how to tell not the truth, but my truth. It's a way to communicate who you are and what you feel." What do you think of his answer? What's your relationship to art, and how would you define it?

I think Joe's answer is true. I define art as a way to express one's feelings.

I agree with Joe's answer, but don't really have a personal definition of art; it can be different things to different people.

Not in the same way as October. To me art is pleasant and pleasing to the eye. It is creative.

I agree with his answer. Art is a very personal thing to the person creating it. People might see that person's creation differently though. When someone creates art that is how they're telling their story, just as a writer tells their story.

I agree with Joe’s statement and for that reason I think art is defined by the individual’s response to it.

I agree with Joe's statement. By no means would I consider myself an artist, but I do dabble with different mediums on occasion. Before I sit down, I have to remind myself that MY self is going to come through...however it might unfold. I can't compare my work to other people's art. Sometimes it's a masterpiece, sometimes it goes in the trash!

This really resonated with me since I am an artist and feel like it is a way to speak, or make a statement, without actually saying words. I think the best part about art is that it’s deeply personally and means something different to everyone.
