The crew of the Saghani

Did anyone else enjoy the description of the crew members and the camaraderie between the odd disparate souls? What did this signify in Frannie's life?

RE: The crew of the Saghani

McConaghy created a crew of fascinating people. We gather that each was a misfit whose home was the sea. While it took awhile to be accepted, Franny at last found a group of people where she felt almost at home. The crew also gained an appreciation for the birds. I’d like to believe their hearts were changed by closeness to Franny.

I did. They were a fascinating group and so supportive of each other... and, in the end, of Franny and the terns.

I thought they were all amazing characters, I kept thinking that McConaghy could write a spin-off novel about any of them, they all seemed to have their own story to tell.

RE: The crew of the Saghani

The crew were an interesting bunch. With the exception of Basil, all of them eventually embraced Franny's cause to some degree. They sacrificed themselves so that Franny and Ennis could continue the journey.
