What role does the keeping of secrets or the disclosing of secrets help or hinder the maturing of the friendship between Cadie and Daniella? How do we weigh what's important for friends to know or dangerous? When Daniella discloses to Cadie that her family is in the country illegally, does this strengthen the friendship or jeopardize it?

Revealing the secrets definitely strengthened the relationship between Cadie and Daniella. I think that if you honestly know a friend's values and biases, you can reveal almost anything. I have had friends, however, that will judge you for sharing certain information, so I pull back from sharing those thoughts or topics or secrets.

I think sharing the secret strengthened the relationship when they were young . Keeping the secret was something that bound them together for life. It made them stay friends when they probably would have grown apart.

Revealing secrets strengthens the friendship between Cadie and Daniela because it eases the burden that Daniella has been carrying and provides a purpose for Cadie plus for Cadie it provides another family bond to what I would consider her second family.
