Overall, what did you think of West with Giraffes? (No spoilers, please)

I enjoyed this book on so many levels. I found it peaceful reading even in the tough parts, and particularly enjoyed before going to sleep at night.
The historical facts were engrossing as I know very little about that time in history.
As a lover of animals, the characters of Girl and Boy were delightful. The human characters were interesting, realistic and a counterpoint to the animal and travel components of the book.
So highly recommend!

I enjoyed and learned from this book. The subject matter was new to me and that in itself was a positive that led to my eagerness to keep reading.
The writing style was straight forward once I understood the back and forth of the alternate “voices”
Highly recommended for book clubs as there is a lot to unpack in this book.

I was a little surprised to find I was so drawn into this book and its characters. (I don't think I would have chosen it from a shelf in a bookstore.) I especially enjoyed reading it while knowing it was based on fact. I wished an older relative was still here to ask if they remembered this story in the news at that time. Overall, I really liked this book and will definitely share it with friends.

Being an animal lover who also enjoys books about travel, I requested this book thinking I would enjoy it. It fully lived up to my hopes for it. Hoping to "kill two birds with one stone" (I'm still an animal lover; sometimes colloquialisms describe a situation better than any other description) I suggested it to my book club as this month's selection. Several members have finished it already and said they really enjoyed it.

I was fascinated by the topic. Many books about this period of time have been about the struggles and paths taken to overcome the adversities but this was so unique. This was an event little had been written about and I was fascinated by the concept. To recognize the plight of a distant species during a time our populace was also struggling, was so inspired. I loved this book. Her characters were so well drawn including the giraffes.

It took me a while to get to it, but once I did, I loved it! I bonded with the characters, including the sweet giraffes, and really cared what happened to them. I had to stop reading a couple of times, because I didn’t want to go to sleep not knowing if they were okay! It was educational as well. Will definitely recommend.

An enjoyable read that captivated me from the start. A road trip, the majestic, personable giraffes, all bound by history-a book I will be recommending to all my friends.

When I started reading West With Giraffes, I put aside everything else and devoted myself to reading because the story grabbed me from the beginning. The newspaper accounts interspersed through the story also added to the enjoyment of the journey.

Really enjoyed West with Giraffes.I loved the history and the character development and the twists and turns and gradual revealing of details. Read Amor Towles The Lincoln Highway an earlier. They go well together
