"Time heals all wounds, they say. I'm here to tell you that time can wound you all on its own." What do you think Woody means by this statement?

Time is going to pass whether or not we want it to. Woody found out that sometimes time is not on your side. He missed meeting up with the Old Man by a month, due to his death. Then to find out Red had passed away was wounding. Also the lose of the giraffes as they aged and died. As time passed Woody lost a number of those important to him, until he also lost his own autonomy and was put in a VA nursing home. Woody had to go on even though time had taken so much from him.

As life goes on, we realize that time is a double edged sword. It brings so much joy and potential and people we love and care about, but also removes people and pets and things from our lives. Time inevitably brings about loss and grief and this wounds us. Woody missed chances with Red and the Old Man and even his family at the beginning of the tale. This left him with regrets. But, on a positive note, he got to spend so much time with the giraffes, and he had a much better life than he ever dreamed of in his childhood.

Time is fleeting and waits for no man. Woody found this out as he put off reunions with his old friends, missing the chance to meet up with the Old Man and Red. He even outlived the giraffes and found himself alone in the end with his notes and visions of Girl. He finished the story, however, and hoped this would be the best possible tribute to Red's daughter.

Sometimes we gain an hour, sometimes we lose an hour but we have no control over time. It just keeps moving on. Woody had time taken away from him, he was given a choice jail or service. He serviced his time, serving the country, but time marched on and Red died. Woody decided he needed to see the Old Man, but sadly missed him by a month. One month, that really shows how cruel time can be, it waits for no man. Eventually Woody learned that time is precious and he had better enjoy each day.
