Of all Honey's patrons, did you find one you liked in particular, or one you especially identified with? What do you think that character's future holds?

RE: Did you like or identify with any of...

I can identify with the patrons easily...I grew up in the early 1950s. We were poor - not as poor as the characters in the book but "buying" books was unheard-of. My right of passage was when I could take a bus to the public library and read all day Saturday! It was wonderful. I can't imagine a life without access to books. I liked all the patrons in both books - they are survivors. They are the ones who will make their lives the best possible.

I could identify with Bonnie in particular. Strong, driven, head of a one parent household, force to endure men trying to hold her in check. Her future was bright even tho she endured some strong knocks from time to time. She was fearless and had a head on her shoulders. With little being offered in her time and circumstance she was moving in the right direction.
