Sad that Elizabeth had to die before the entire truth came out.

It was sad that Elizabeth felt she had to end her life . At least she wasn’t wrongly convicted of setting the fire.

I liked the ending. I thought Elizabeth kind of paid for her misdeeds (even though she didn't start the fire) and I appreciate that Mary took responsibility for her actions. I also LOVED how Young stood up to Pak, unlike how she agreed to move to the US when she didn't want to back when they all lived in Korea.

I was sad that Elizabeth died, another tragic death.

So sorry that Elizabeth gave up before she was to be freed. I thought earlier in the book that she had done it, since she positioned everyone in the capsule.

I think the last chapter could have been deleted; the power of the book is its array of issues and I think that the tieing up of loose ends closes the conversation in a way that it doesn't need to. Anyone else feel that way?

It seems like a lot of us agree that Elizabeth didn't need to commit suicide. I guess I would have liked her to realize her mistakes and get on with her life.

I had mixed feelings about Mary's time in prison. She's a good girl and a good student, who made a mistake. Who will she be as a person when she gets out? I've no experience with the prison system, but it seems like it could have a less than stellar outcome for her. It's good that it's clear Young will be there for her; that's about the only way I see her recovering.
