"La Barca de la Ilusion": Do you think May should have given the situation another chance or was she right to leave? What do you think you would have done in similar circumstances?

"La Barca de la Ilusion" speaks to the power of addiction; even after Maya's husband Buzz has been clean for a long period of time, the reappearance of his drug dealer brings a relapse. Maya doesn't think things will get better even after the dealer's death. Do you think she should have given the situation another chance or was she right to leave? What do you think you would have done in similar circumstances?

No way. She should have left long before she did. I hope I would have had better sense than to get in that situation.

The situation was terrible once Buzz went back to drugs. The old lifestyle resumes== one of lying and living under false pretenses. She should have left ages ago but I suppose one always holds out hope that things will get better or, at least. remain calm. Old acquaintances bring trouble

When fear and desolation feel like home, it is time to save yourself and your kids. Geographical escape to Yelapa would only work until temptation entered the picture. Eventually temptation was going to get off the Paladin. I understand how drugs alter brain chemistry; but I would have needed to get my kids away from Buzz. (Interesting choice of name for this character.)

An addict is an addict is an addict. The first few times, she had hope that maybe he'd get better. But ideally she should have left sooner. Hindsight. I should have left sooner, too.
