Did anybody else know immediately what the ouija board’s answers meant?

As soon as the ouija board answered their questions about the missing men, I knew where they were and what had happened to them. I still really liked the book, but I wish it was a little harder to put the pieces together. Maybe it’s all the Nancy Drew I read as a kid.

Yes, I knew too or was pretty sure I knew. I also agree with you I expected a little more mystery or twists and turns, particularly based on the overview of the story written on the back of the book. I still enjoyed the book a lot but it wasn’t what I expected.

I agree. I too figured the mystery out at that point. I didn’t mind as I didn’t feel it detracted in anyway from the story. I was surprised by the mementos that Tiny had in his room so that part I didn’t see coming.

I knew what the clue meant but it didn't take anything away from my enjoyment of the story.

I knew right away what the Ouija Board meant but I wouldn't expect the young girls to know. The whole idea was for them to "figure out" the clues and information like Nancy Drew!

I assumed that, but wasn’t 100% sure. I don’t think it took away from the story either.

In reading the responses to my original question, I agree with Bill and Jackie that even if we knew what the answer was, it really was the girls' mystery to solve. Good call.
