Sarah feels “A truly creative life demanded a kind of blind faith in signs, hints or nudges toward a certain direction.” Later, she says, “Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.” What’s your take on these statements?

Its all in how you look at life, its a mental thing, if you believe in the good in life you will see good, if you believe in the woah is me mentality you will only see the bad in life. Creative process sometimes requires making mistakes, some of the best artists took mistakes and made them into lasting art.

I believe all humans are arttistic in their own ways. Perhaps you can paint like Picasso or you can organize a room like Marie Kondo...there are endless forms of art and creativity! And I do believe that art does require a bit of "blind faith". To be creative, you have to trust your instincts and take chances. Let the creativity flow from within.
And if you don't believe in magic; you will definitely NEVER find it! Some people get caught up on the word "magic", as a negative thing. You can easily change the word magic to prayer, trust, Nature, or intuition. They can mean the same thing.

Magic, possibilities, being open to what the Universe has to offer…….dreams do come true… there is magic all around us..in the quiet of an evening, in the cacophony of the 17 year locusts emerging, in the beauty of spring flowers..in the soft purr of a kitten, if we don’t open our hearts, minds, eyes, ears, taste, sense of smell…..

I believe we see what we believe. If you don't believe in magic, you will never see it. If you don't believe in wonder, you won't see it. It's the same with creativity. You have to believe in the creative act and commit to it to make it happen. It is a form of faith and trust.

I absolutely agree with both statements--when I take out my art materials or my scrapbook materials, though I have a tenuous idea of what I expect my creation to be, I'm always amazed at the result. The ability to change the placement of a picture or two or crop one in a different way than you'd planned is just instinctive adjustment. The choice of a color or brush or medium can alter a painting totally from the original concept.
As for magic, I believe in magic and see it all around me, every day. I see it because I believe that deer showing up under my apple tree, close enough to touch, is by magic and my heart sings.
