Is Ben's sister outrage over her brother being referred to by a woman's name understandable?

Ben's sister Hannah was horrified that her brother was referred to by a woman's name, Ben Daisy. Is her outrage understandable considering what Daisy represents to Ben and also to Libertie?

I don't think it was because Daisy was a woman's name that outraged her, I think it was because she did not understand his devotion to Daisy and she thought it continued his delusion and did not allow him to become someone in his new world. It held him back.

Hannah despised Daisy. Having her brother constantly associated with Daisy prevented him facing the reality that she was really gone. I can understand her outrage in that regard.

Is it possible that Hannah didn’t want people who didn’t know who Daisy was to think he was being called Ben Daisy because he was gay?

I agree with Marcia S, also I think she didn't like that everyone talked about him in teasing/derogatory way.

I agree with Marcia S. She did not like Daisy.

She wanted Ben to move on now that Daisy was gone. As long as they kept her memory going, he was not going to. She also that Daisy harmed her brother by leaving.

I think Hannah struggled with Ben's obsession with this woman, Daisy, who had such a hold over him. I don't think she wanted people to associate him with Daisy.

I agree with several here about Ben having an obsession with Daisy who left him before she died. I imagine his sister was justifiably worried about Ben’s mental health after losing her and his break down during his journey to freedom. It must have felt to her he was being ridiculed and dismissed by the towns folk which would be upsetting, especially when you thought he was in the care of a medical professional. As there still is now, mental health is often a target of stigma.
