Floss' Choice

Do you agree with the decision Floss made when Elizabeth died? Did you have any sympathy for Bill?

RE: Floss' Choice

Yes, Floss was right to take the baby. She probably felt some guilt in not helping Elizabeth before. No, I do not feel sorry for Bill

RE: Floss' Choice

Yes, I believe (especially before the prevalence of Social Services) that Floss made a wonderful choice for Grace. I had no sympathy at all for Bill and was very happy that he never got the chance to impact on Grace’s life. The way he treated Elizabeth was only a harbinger for what one could expect when a baby under his care was involved.

I agree that Floss did the right thing. I'm not sure that is was the right thing to keep it a secret though.

RE: Floss' Choice

Floss had no choice; she had to take that baby out of that house and away for that savage Bill. Floss loved Elizabeth so she loved her baby and once the truth starts to twist and bend it is very hard to straighten it, Maybe Floss was afraid that she would be loved less by Grace once the truth was out but everything turned out well at the end.

I agree with Jeanette that what she did was correct. Even if she had been taken away from Bill, you don't know where she would have ended up.

RE: Floss' Choice

I never could not have done it, but I applaud Floss for what she did. That was a total act of love for both Grace and Elizabeth. I think that at the time and in the place that Grace was born that was the only solution for Floss. I often think in books in movies, though, characters get away with things they never would get away with in real life.

I think she did the correct thing by taking Grace away from Bill. I thought it was interesting that Bill, because he was drunk, thought he killed the baby too. I did think it was wrong to keep it a secret all those years.

I agree with her decision to get the child away from Bill but you can't just be taking babies in real life.
I don't have any sympathy for Bill. He was starving & beating a pregnant woman. You can't get much lower than that.

She did the right thing, as far as I'm concerned. I did not feel an ounce of sympathy for Bill. Any man who beats and starves his pregnant wife, no matter the reason, will not get sympathy from me.

RE: Floss' Choice

Floss was incredibly brave to do what she did.
