This is so true! Sometimes it works for her but often times it doesn’t. It cause a lot of regrets for her

Arie was so right, and as a reader, every time she chose to charge into the breach, I thought, "Oh no! She could really mess up this time!" Her intentions were good, but just like in the first chapter with the magic, all involved need to be depended upon to follow the script. On the other hand, her instincts when Arie was in trouble were right on! I loved that!

Definitely true and sometimes to her determinant. Perhaps if she had an honest conversation with Arie early on, things might have been different.

I think this is true! Fenna made so many decisions in her life that affected them both without telling him. Not the smartest thing to do for her life or Arie's. Sometimes we think we ar being so noble . sacrificing something for ourselves for someone else, but we're actually be selish, as we leave then out of the process, confused and alone. And then often angry and hurt.

I would characterize Fenna as always doing what she thought was the right thing to do at the time. There are instances in the story (no spoilers) when what she actually did went against what would "please" her. That seems realistic to me.

Fenna charges ahead with a need for control that doesn’t always work. She has a difficult time listening to others and accepting their input. This lack of reflection makes her appear selfish at times.

I agree with marks. Also, could this same not be said of Arie? Was this only said with such venom and taken so seriously because Fenna is a woman and thus is supposed to take everyone else’s opinion into consideration prior to taking action AND acting in such a way as to put others needs and wishes before her own? Fenna was living the life of an orphan. She had no one truly but herself and she was the one responsible for her own survival. While her choices may not have been the best suited to achieve Arie’s happiness, soothe Charle’s bruised ego, or pander to the others in her life, they were her choices made for her life.

I definitely agree with gerrieb's comments. She was an orphan and had to make decisions that affected her life.

Both Arie and Fenna were headstrong, but in particular Fenna. She thought she was always right!

I think this is true, Fenna didn't consider Arie in most of her decisions even though he was affected by them. She often made decisions based on instinct and out of her childhood fear of the stampede. Her emotion rather than her reason would take over.
Arie was much more rational.
