I liked this one: first , to identify, arrange and spotlight meaningful possessions;second, to get rid of meaningless stuff. "Cultivate a shrine."
I would love to examine the house shelf by shelf and get to know what lives here with me and ensure it is only what I think should be here.

Yes it absolutely encouraged me to look at certain cluttered areas in my house. I also found the idea of creating a shrine to hold your significant and symbolic items very appealing.
this genre of book is actually not my idea of a read but I am very happy to have read it and I have actually incorporated some its message into my life

Lots of good ideas in this book -- many of which I already practice! Shrines, removing clutter/organization, threshold routines, good smells, etc are things that keep me sane after a challenging day. Her "warm greetings/fairwells" is something I will try --

Not only did this book make me want to try many of the resolutions, I have done so successfully with several:
1. Make the positive argument. This resolution has been extremely helpful when I find myself overly-critical with my friends and family. It works!
2. Underreact to a problem. I told my husband about this one and now we use it all the time. All we need to do is look at each other and say "underreact" ------and we do.
3. Find my own Calcutta. I've been transitioning over the past several years to a volunteer status from a paid one and there is much truth in this resolution. Find what moves you, not someone else, and put your passion to work.
