Do you envision a time when Gloria, Crystal or Krystal can be a part of Ginny's life?

I can imagine a time when Krystal with a K would seek out her sister, but only as an adult. Gloria is far too self-absorbed and selfish to forgive Ginny for abandoning her.

I think that Ginny's mother has written off her daughter when she yells "Have a good life." The adult Crystal "with a C" probably will not want to risk legal involvement, leaving only the possibility of the two sisters ever wanting to casually reconnect. I did not finish this book with the sense that the two sisters would ever be close emotionally.

In the future I can see either of the Crystals seeking out Ginny. Hopefully Gloria would never be in her life.

I do not see that happening ever with Gloria. Possibly Crystal or Krystal might try to connect with her but not likely until Ginny is an adult for Crystal and Krystal is not likely to be much interested since she will not have much memory of Ginny.

I think Ginny has a strong desire to have them be part of her life, but I'm not sure how healthy that is for her. I feel that Crystal and Gloria will stay away. The "happy-ending" part of me would love for Krystal to find her as an adult and help take care of her.

I agree with ScribblingScribe to some degree. If Krystal grows up and becomes a responsible, educated adult who understands completely and correctly her connection to Ginny and the family history, then perhaps she and Ginny may interact and enjoy some sort of relationship. However, with Gloria as her mother and role model, "if" is a big question. I should think that both Gloria and Crystal have clear enough vision of the situation now to know that they both are better off and will stay away.

As Terrio adds here, it would be nice if, in later years, they could come to know one another - particularly since Ginny was so invested in the care and protection of Krystal.

I hope not. Unfortunately, I think that Krystal will be overly influenced by Gloria, which will probably make it unlikely that she will become an intelligent, rational adult.

I would like to see the sisters have some sort of relationship when they are both adults. Given how much Ginny endured to keep Krystal with a K alive and safe, it would be nice if Krystal realized that at some point in her life and reciprocated to some extent. Having said that, I think it’s much more likely that Baby Wendy will grow up to be her big sister’s advocate and caregiver.

I agree with Sweeney. In another life maybe Krystal will see her Mother for what she is and break away from the cycle.

The author gives us a strong sense that Gloria will be caught, and Krystal will be taken into the system. As a court appointed special advocate (CASA), my hopes are that Krystal is fortunate enough to be assigned a CASA who does a good job of helping Krystal keep track of her sister. Of course, it would also be nice if Krystal could be placed in a caring forever home also. The foster system is rough. Hope is the thing with feathers.

No, I do not. I do not think it would be good for either of them. Ginny needs to be cared for by responsible adults, who will accept her as she is. I do not believe Ginny would like to be with Gloria now that she does have the baby doll. I would hope that Krystal would find her sister some day

Ginny only wanted Gloria and Crystal in her life as a means to an end (i.e., lead her to her Baby Doll). Otherwise, there did not appear to be any real connection and I doubt Ginny would pursue a continued relationship with either. As Ginny matures, she may wish to reach out to Krystal (or Krystal might reach out to Ginny) and that is a possible relationship.

In a perfect world, Krystal would be removed from Gloria's care and adopted by Ginny's forever family. I seriously doubt that that would happen, but it's nice to think about.

I can see Krystal being taken away from her mother and connecting with Ginny as a young adult. Since they are going to Canada, it depends on future events. I don 't see them reconnecting without outside changed. Perhaps Crystal might connect when out of jail as I don't think they are far apart.

Definitely yes. No matter what, family is family and Gloria understood Ginny in a way that Brian & Maura never will be able to . With luck, Ginny will be able to interact with her birth family without the interaction causing problems in the future.

Perhaps Crystal with time and after her release from jail however, NOT Gloria. She seemed that no matter what life threw at her she remained the same. Truly, I was hoping Krystal would have been taken from her before the book ended.

I do think her birth family will eventually be a part of her life. Although they are dysfunctional, they do genuinely love her and she seems to have a fundamental curiosity to be with them, as well. Furthermore, Gloria is opportunistic and will likely raise Krystal the same way, so they will track Ginny down to see what she can do for them at some point. The best case scenario is that the loving support of the Moons will give Ginny a healthy voice to have boundaries around them and protect herself from their negligence.

Given the toll the unraveling of the mystery of "Baby Doll" has taken on Ginny's adoptive family, I do not think they would be very open to Ginny having a relationship with Gloria. Gloria's behavior frightened them, and she destroyed property. Losing Ginny did not fundamentally change who Gloria is or how she parents. I think Ginny realized that near the end of the book. I do not think Crystal will pursue a relationship, particularly after her "help" in reuniting Ginny and Gloria led to jail time. And given the disagreements Ginny's parents had with Rick, I do not think they will risk allowing Crystal back into the picture, for fear she will still be a Gloria supporter. I am not certain that Ginny felt the same way about "Baby Girl" after seeing her as a six year old. I think she still needs to process the fact that Krystal is not a baby any more, but that the six year old and the baby are the same person. Ginny was so focused on the baby, and she really does not have a strong connection to the girl. I think it will be up to Krystal to pursue the relationship--but Krystal's memories cannot of Ginny and the love and care she gave may not be as strong due to her age at the time of their separation. As long as Krystal is with Gloria, Ginny's parents would not support a relationship between the two. By the time Krystal is old enough to be on her own, she will have been without Ginny for 18 years and may not consider a relationship with her important.

Ginny's life is very compartmentalized. I think once Ginny had the fight with Gloria, she was gone from her life and thoughts. Crystal, maybe but I'm not sure contact would have been beneficial to either of them - maybe for Crystal to know Ginny was well. Krystal, no. Ginny could not relate to her once she was no longer her "baby doll".

I realize that the authorities were trying to keep Ginny safe. But I think that if they had allowed Ginny to have contact with Gloria and Crystal she would not have felt so much alone. She already had problems connecting emotionally, they put Ginny in new environments with people obviously unable to handle her disability. Brian seemed to be the only one who cared for her and tried to understand her. Maura was just fearful. It would have been better if Ginny had been able to see Krystal grow up. I suppose Gloria would probably have lost Krystal then too.

I think it would be possible for Krystal and Ginny to have a relationship once Krystal was removed from Gloria's custody. They both had a connection to each other even though they had been separated for five years.

Ginny could have had a relationship with Chrystal had the arrest and imprisonment not happened, but then Ginny would have been with Gloria. Ginny was never the focus for Chrystal, she was just kidnapping her so Gloria wouldn't get caught herself.

Gloria was such a self-centered person that she would never spend the effort to form a relationship with Ginny. She wouldn't have changed how she acted to help Ginny interact with her.

Gloria, probably not. She is too emotionaly stunted to make room for Ginny in her life. Crystal, I’m not sure.
Possibly when she’s older and understands the importance of family, she will reach out.
