Why do you think Ginny refers to herself as (-Ginny)?

I think that as soon as Ginny begins to think about returning for her baby doll she no longer feels a part of her forever home. She knows she is breaking the rules and going against her forever parents wishes. In her mind, that makes he different. She's no longer the good, forever daughter they knew and has become (-Ginny). By going against what is right, she has turned into the negative of herself--the anti-Ginny, who must return to a place of hardship to protect the baby she loves. She is knowingly giving up her happiness and safety to care for Krystal. It's no longer about Ginny, hence (-Ginny).

When she knows she is doing something wrong, she is - Giny or Negative Ginny, as opposed to when she is being good and positive. She knows the difference, but can't always help herself as she is so driven to protect her Baby Doll.

With her skewed mental perception of herself and the world, the basic math formula of "minus" Ginny or less-than-Ginny is her way of expressing that she knows something more is wrong.

I think she is trying to separate herself from her current environment so she can do the things she feels she needs to do to get to baby doll. She knows the sneaking and stealing phones and communicating with her mother are not appropriate but she has an almost "sacred" mission she needs to pursue and these things are necessary. By naming herself (- Ginny) she can allow herself to do what she thinks will help get her to baby doll.

When Ginny's self perception becomes less than positive and good, she sees and labels herself as -Ginny. Her drive and need to get to her baby doll allows her to accept this side of herself because she sees that as her most important mission and cannot allow anything to get in the way of her accomplishing it - no matter how she or others see her.

I agree with all of you. It allowed her to do what she felt she had to do, even if she had to act not like herself.

-Ginny is her way of saying she is not really a part of her current life at the Moons. She is fixated on her "Baby Doll" and life with Gloria. Who would feel authentic if they were plucked from their home and suddenly told this was their "new family" and to forget about everything that came before? Ginny-Ginny=nothing. She belongs nowhere and has no consistent "truth," no one who truly understands what motivates her and the urgent need to find her "Baby Doll."

I think the others have said it more eloquently than I can. Basically, when she was doing something bad, she referred to her self as Ginny.
