Why do you think first Crystal and then Gloria risk jail time to abduct Ginny?

I think they love the idea of Ginny, of being with her again and being a family. But if they truly loved her, they would leave her alone and be happy that she's safe and being take care of properly. Wanting to kidnap her and take her out of her forever home is a selfish act by two women who are likely wanting Ginny to take on responsibility for Krystal so they can go back to their own selfish ways. Crystal would no longer need to spend so much time with Gloria helping care for Krystal because Ginny would do it. Gloria would have help and be able to slip back into her life without care. Neither women are thinking of Ginny. The risk of jail is worth having Ginny take care of them. Besides, Gloria and Crystal don't strike me as people who think much about consequences.

Gloria does not seem terribly bright or seriously interested in Ginny as a daughter or a special and valued family member. She has not and may never reach that level of maturity and responsibility. Ginny was someone who could be a caretaker for Krystal while Gloria continued her haphazard and wild lifestyle. But because Gloria now believes she is a competent mother, she is willing to risk arrest and jail to prove to everyone that she is fit. She is not yet able to see the error in her thinking, so she does not really see what she is doing as a risk - it is simply the way she thinks, acts, and lives. Crystal, her sister, is more responsible and sees the big picture more clearly (though for sure not clear enough). She wants Gloria to grow up and be responsible and bringing Ginny back to her - she thinks and hopes will make Gloria see the error of her ways and cause her to behave responsibly. Crystal wants her sister to be happy, and she wants to have Ginny back in her own life. She believes she can fill in for Gloria if need be. Thinking like this, she is not seeing the reality of Ginny's behavior and what is required to care for her - so she does not - at least initially - see what she is doing as much of a risk either. In her mind, she had a plan, and her plan would work - no risk.

Good question - maybe for Crystal and Gloria it was a short-sighted matter of principle. Both appeared to believe that a child should not be taken away from its mother under any circumstances even if staying with the mother is not in the best interest of the child.

The old saying "blood is thicker than water" probably applies here. Even though Gloria was not a fit parent for any child, she felt she had a right to treat her children as she wished. I don't think either woman was overly bright.

Gloria saw her life getting better if she could only be with her two girls. Running away to Canada would make everything right, she could have a family, stability. Jail time wasn't as frightening to her as not having a life and she needed to find some kind of normal in her life.

I think both truly love Ginny, but they do not understand her individual needs or how she thinks. If they did, Crystal would not have left her alone in the cottage. And I believe Gloria has her own mental issues that are challenging and the two don't mix.

Crystal seemed to have some genuine love for Ginny, but, of course, there was also her sense that Ginny was "theirs" - a blood relative. For Gloria, I think it was simply a feeling of possession despite the abuse that Ginny endured at her hands.

I do not know why they were so intent on getting Ginny. The only thing I can think of is that Gloria viewed Ginny as a possession. She hated that Ginny was taken from her and she needed to get her back. Maybe she didn't know the extent of Ginny's autism. Chrystal was likely getting Ginny for her sister, who she likely took care of throughout her life.

Gloria wanted a redo and wanted what she failed to provide the first time around. She is shellfish and is concerned for herself rather than ensuring Ginny is in a home where she is cared for properly and can grow in a stable environment. Crystal has good intentions but went about things the wrong way, she felt impulsive, not clearly examining the entire picture. Unsure if Crystal was factoring Ginny into the equation or strictly hellbent on fulfilling her sisters shelfish needs
