It did for me. The notions of silence, freedom, and what it means to keep being present in life resonated with me. I felt I really wanted to meet Terry and I wanted to be part of a woman's weekend to explore the ideas she was wrestling with.

I learned a great deal that I did not know about the Mormon religion as well as conservation and wild life and land preservation. The politics of Washington was not news and very believable. There are many very astute
and detailed nature observations for that region which I enjoyed. Her enjoyment of the not really quiet but alone feeling of the natural world I related to totally.

I finished reading this book several weeks ago and I'm sorry to say it didn't leave a permanent mark. It is for me, today, like her mother's journals: blank. The quotes I enjoyed most were from others quoted in the book, not the author's. It was too ephemeral and thus, just did not "stick". That being said, I've enjoyed reading the positive comments of others; my reaction is definitely the minority opinion.
