by Fred Agree The Bozo in the Bus
Those of us dogmushers and homesteaders from interior Alaska, who have read Jons book, have dubbed its "hero" the "Bozo in the Bus". One can go out into the wilderness, experience it, and live to tell the tale. We may not get a book written about us, but we don't get to die in some smelly, stinky metal coffin lying in our own piss and poop. I remember passing the bus a year or so after he died, while traveling up the Stampede Trail with my dogteam. I envisaged lettering it with:"Send us your stupid, your dreamers, your vain".....
Nice writing job John! I look forward to more of your stuff.

I just happened to stumble on this book when I was looking for a book to analyze for a college psychology class. The story was very interesting to me being a true life account. There are as many mysteries as there are answers to his behaviors. I'm not an outdoors type of person but i really enjoyed the story. I would definitely recommend this to others.

by Laurel Couldn't Put It Down
This was a very engrossing book, and I've read it twice already. You know Chris was wrong to do what he did, and probably unstable, but you still understand why he did it. Maybe there's a little of Chris in a lot of us-- the romantic adventurer. Or maybe we have someone like Chris in our own families. Whatever it is, I found this very moving. Knowing upfront that he died made it even more poignant and frustrating at the same time. Excellent book, not harrowing like Into Thin Air, but almost as personal. I'll keep reading Jon Krakauer's books.

by Anonymous This Book Sucked
This book was very confusing and unorganized. The author jumps around the plot line. In the beginning we find out McCandless died but he keeps retelling his story throughout the whole book.

Into the wild is a boring book. I chose to read it in my English class from a list of books because everyone was reading it so I figured it would be good. I guess I was wrong. I don't know how anyone can feel sympathetic for chris. he didn't have to become a bum and travel across the country, only to be found dead. also the story line is boring. Nothing exciting really happens.

Hi all mountain aficionados
Since " Into thin Air " Krakauer is one of favorite mountaineering writer."In to The Wild. Good writing. However it does occasionally remind me of good ol Jack London.
Good climbing. Carry on...
Only one remark: Please use the metric system - in brackets like IHT or the New York Times. "His backpack weighed 40 pounds!"- I don't have a clue. I have to stop reading. Connect my internet and convert to kilograms. It cheeses me off!
New York Times have gone metric inch by inch (in brackets)
Why can't you go metric. You can't change Jon Krakauer according to him the peaks are in in feet!
But the editor of the publishing house should edit the text and change it in to kilograms, meters, accordingly
Europe is metric. Asia is going metric!
I live in South East Asia - Thailand. We are using the metric system we use the metric phone time 15.00 hours not 3 PM.
Stranger than fiction, blending tragedy and farce, How to Create the Perfect Wife is an engrossing tale of the radicalism, and deep contradictions, at the heart of the Enlightenment.
Although heavy on the scientific details, which slowed down the story for me (OK, I admit, I was one of those liberal arts majors who skipped out on...
