Blow Fly is a sucker punch. I have enjoyed reading each of the Scarpetta novels, but Blow Fly is terrible. I have never had to work so hard to finish reading a book. There is little or no plot through most of the book, next to nothing seems to happen for the first four hundred pages of the book, and then the book is over. I even wondered if Cornwell didn't have some budding novelist friend of hers write it for her. It is that bad. Bring characters back from the dead is best left to the Bible and daytime soaps. I miss the Scarpetta mysteries Cornwell wrote in first person back at the beginning of the series.

I was disappointed in this book. I generally love Patricia Cornwell's work, but not this time. I don't know what has happened. I wonder if someone else wrote this for her. The main characters are friends of ours from previous books, and it was fun to read about them until just past the midpoint of the book. Then it seemed to take on a different look, a hurried look, reminiscent of hurrying to finish a paper in college. Do read this book if you have spare time, just so you won't be lost when the next one comes out. However, I suggest borrowing instead of buying this one to read.

i have read and enjoyed every book patricia cornwell has ever written... and completely enjoyed them... this however, is the worst book she has written... what a waste of time... i spend 3 weeks reading this only to have a big giant ????? at the end. it seems like she was in a hurry to finish the book and wrapped it up in the last two chapters... i was sooooo dissappointed!!!!

I wondered if Cornwell watched a certain episode of Dallas before she wrote this. Is she wrapping up a contract with her publisher or what.

I have read every book Patrice Cornwell has written and enjoyed them all. But I don't believe that she had written Blow Fly. The story was a build up to nothing. What did she do? Were there too many pages so she just cut out what happened to two main characters? The action in the swamp was even cut short in my opinion. Then to have a character say he " killed" another character without the author writing anything about it! I felt cheated after reading this story. If this is a sample of books to come, I’m not sure if I will read anything else from Patricia Cornwell. I know one thing, I will wait for the paperback copy from now on.

I really enjoyed the book. It answered some questions that I had from previous books that I was able to put together from this book. The other characters got more life in this book, it was not all centered around Kay and her problems in Virginia, she let us travel this time. Patricia also brought back a character that I enjoyed from previous books, Benton. Hopefully he will put some UMPH! back in Kay's life and make her want to live again. It's a good read and I would most definately reccomened it to other Patricia Cornwell readers.
