When I first bought the book for one of my college English courses, I immediately thought I would dislike the book. Now there is *NO* way I'm selling it when the semester is over!

Kien Nguyen is in every aspect of the word a true survivor. Would be very interested in knowing what became of his family, did he keep in touch? Has he had the chance to meet his father? What are his brother, mother, and sister now doing? Has he gone back to Vietnam? What happened in the Philippines? Still many more stories to be told. Could not put this book down, and did leave me with wanting to know more. Kien was very lucky to have soo many angels to protect him. I'm grateful for his courage to bear the truth, and grateful even more for his survival to tell his story. My best wishes to you Kien!!

Excellent book, he had it all, he lost it all, he built on what was left to make a success of his life. When is the sequel coming out.

I found the book totally engrossing from various aspects. At the end, I did feel cut off as I wanted to know more about his life in the refugee camp. I was surprised to read that he became a dentist. I wanted to know what happened to others in his family too. I think he has a lot of material left for more books. I look forward to his next one and wish him all the best in the world.
