The great twist....
As a psychologist, I appreciated the author's ability to present an inter-woven snapshot of a family struggling to manage a chronic disease, and how one justifies moral decisions.
The characters are alive on the pages revealing a plot which grows in complexity as each perspective reveals itself.
I enjoyed the building suspense of the plot and characters! The final twist left me smiling as I did not have a clue.
A definite good read!

Secrets
Does everyone have a secret? As we meet Eve Lattimore, her family and neighbors, this is definitely the case. The secrets may be small and insignificant in nature or they may be life changing and devastating but each member of the cast has them. Carla Buckley weaves this tale of mystery and family drama in such a way that I could not stop reading it. The turmoil that each of the characters experiences throughout this two week period in which the novel is set is heart wrenching. Also interesting is the tendency for people to turn against each other in times of stress as well as defend and protect those close to them. A very well written book that I would recommend to anyone.

A Tad Bit Long for the Story
The fact that everyone has at least one secret is certainly highlighted in this book. And the secrets can often intersect with a loved one or a stranger. Carla Buckley has a wonderful story to tell; however, the writer occasionally adds several pages that just are needed. The book is a page turner, it just didn't need that many. I found the story interesting, but would not recommend it to a friend.

The Deepest Secret
I really liked the writing in this story. It engaged me right away and kept my interest all the way to the end. This is a story of a family. On the surface, it is an average family except for the devastating illness of the son. His illness impacts each member of the family and the neighborhood they live in. Something happens that moves the story along in unexpected ways and reveals the secrets that each person has. I was satisfied with the way the story ended.

The Deepest Secret by Carla Buckley
The Deepest Secret is the story of a family, actually of an entire neighborhood, and how those in the family and neighborhood interact with one another. It brings home to us the fact that everyone has secrets and how jarring it can be when we learn the secrets those we think we know work so hard to hide. The fact that the story revolves around a young man with a rare disease adds an extra dimension to the tale. Buckley has done an excellent job of getting into people's heads. She has given us a cast of real people who do real things. I found this novel difficult to put down and a very satisfying read.

What would you do if.......
This book will make you wonder what you would do and how far you would go to keep your family safe, happy and together... Mother and son with a rare disease are the main focus of this book, but there are many other characters that you will become very familiar with by the end of this book. Reminded me a little of Jodi Piccoult without the court drama....This book will appeal to almost anyone since during its course the cast of characters encounter many of the problems people face during their life. This story kept me up reading late at night because I couldn't put it down...I can highly recommend this book...but be ready to lose some sleep.

So - So Read
Was looking forward to reading this book, but was extremely disappointed. Found the story very slow at times, the main character, Tyler, was very difficult to envision or relate to at times. Definitely a challenge to try and finish this book, would not recommend to my book club.

Family Secrets
This was a very intriguing book about family secrets. As the story unfolds we find that not only Eve was keeping secrets in the Lattimore family - all of them had secrets. Its the story of a family with a special needs son who gets most of the family attention, to the detriment of the rest of the family. Some parts of the story were unbelievable but overall this was a great novel that kept you reading until the end.
