Predictable for the most part but good characters
This book has interesting character development - I wanted to know more about their lives and I cared about them. The plot line was not very original and tended to go along at a moderate pace. The setting, Nantucket, was described in an inviting way. I think the potential for a better story was there because of the richness of the characters and the location.

Good Light Reading
I did enjoy this book, and I think that most readers that like this type of fiction would as well. My main problems with the book stemmed from the fact that it seemed fairly superficial. What I mean by that is the tragedies that the protagonist endured didn't really seem to affect her that much, and the way she interacted with her children turned me off somewhat.

Great Beach Read
This book was fantastic - a great, fun, fast read. You fall in love with the characters and feel like you can really know these women in real life. Will certainly have to check out the other books of Nancy Thayer. I think I may have found a new favorite author!

Heat Wave by Nancy Thayer
A perfect book to take on vacation - the quintessential beach read. Women will find this a relaxing page turner, which will relate to much in their own lives or at least how they would wish their lives to be. "Heat Wave" will not join the annals of great literature but it is a fun book.

Heat Wave
A wonderful read. Characters were nicely developed and you knew them as if they were actually your friends. My only wish was that I would have loved some of the recipes for all those delicious sounding muffins and cookies. I certainly will read other books by Nancy Thayer. I finished this lovely book in three days.

Great Beach Read.
A book to just relax with, a story of relationships, food and starring in the background, Nantucket. Lose yourself in the story of friends, the good, the bad and the ugly and yet, in the end still friends. Highly entertaining, meant to be read outside with the image in your mind of an island B&B, a nice breeze, crashing waves and a good story.

Heat Wave
Since I spent much of my youth on Nantucket many years ago, I was truly interested in reading Nancy Thayer's new book. I was disappointed, initially, that this was going to be a bit of a "fluff" book: 30 something women who lived well on Nantucket socializing and stealing other women's husbands. However, there was more to the story - one of loss, friendships lost and redeemed and love given and received. This is a light, "breezy" type of beach book that is quickly and easily read.

Good beach read
I read the book in 1 1/2 days as it moved along very quickly, and the characters seemed more like friends than characters on the pages. Love, loss, and love again in Nantucket where the winters can be harsh and you need true friends but the summers are wonderful.
Nancy Thayer does it again!
