A very good page turner,so good that I'm ordering her other three books.

Findings is the fourth in the Faye Longchamp mystery series. The book can stand alone as I had not read the prior books. The main character, Faye is an archaeologist who lives on Joyeuse Island off the Florida panhandle. Faye traced her house back to an ancestor, a freed slave named Cally who had lived in the house.

Faye has a constant companion/protector named Joe Wolf Mantooth. Joe is a Native American of the Creek Tribe. The author establishes Joe and Ross Donnelly, an Atlanta attorney, as competing love interests in Faye’s life.

Much of the story revolves around a buried emerald necklace. Murders connected to Faye’s work as an archaeologist occur. Faye and Joe work together to solve the murders. This puts their lives in danger. The book was light reading and included Civil War history. I did want to finish the book but with lots of foreshadowing it was not hard to figure out the ending. It was a pleasant read.

I am quite surprised by how I was absolutely smitten with this book and regret that
Findings is my first reading in this series about the archaeologist Faye Longchamp.

I would have loved to watch the characters develop over the first three books
particularly the relationship between Faye, Joe and Ross. That being said, Findings is able to stand on its own merits if you haven’t read the previous books in the series. A few murders, valuable gemstones, a love triangle and insights into life in the Confederate South during the Civil War coupled with Evans intelligent writing made for an irresistible storyline. I sign up for First Impressions so I have an opportunity to discover new authors and am very pleased to add Mary Anna Evans to my list.

This was the first and most likely the last book I will read by the author. I usually enjoy reading books from a series that has a woman as the main "detective" type character but Faye wasn't very believable to me. There wasn't much suspense for me. It was very easy to figure out the "who done it". The love interests in the book weren't very believable for me either.

I did not dislike this book, I just didn't like it. I felt like I was reading a Nancy Drew book dressed up for adults. To be honest I did not finish reading the entire book, I quit half way thru. I feel bad because I love books, I love writers, I love Book Browse but this book was so simple, so elementary that I didn't want to spend any more time reading it when there are so many great books out there. I'm hoping someone else will give it a great review to balance this out. Its just not memorable AT ALL.

Findings is the first book by Mary Anna Evans that I have read but it won't be the last. It is a fast-paced mystery with a likable, if somewhat unconventional, heroine who happens to be a graduate student in archeology. My only complaints are two that are shared by many "popular" mysteries: The secondary characters tend to be rather one-dimensional, and the ending is a bit predictable. In spite of these shortcomings, I still enjoyed the book very much.

Findings is the fourth mystery featuring archeologist Faye Longchamp. I recommend reading the first three novels before reading the fourth as there is a lot of character development with each succeeding book.

Each of these novels is not only a very well written character-driven mystery but also is filled with fascinating archaeological and historical information.

I highly recommend Findings as well as the first three novels.

I loved this book. I thought it was the best mystery I'd read in a long time. I wasn't able to figure out who the perpetrator was before the end of the story. And I really enjoyed the setting, and the background of the civil war.

I haven't read any other books in the series, but plan on doing so right away.
