Wow this book was really good. It was well written and thought out. THe only confussinf part was with Jody. Is he gay or not? If he is he would still make a great friend for LaVaughn. Is there a third book coming out or what???

Hello Kirsten
I can find no sign of an imminent publication date for the third in this trilogy (Make Lemonade & True Believer). This most likely means that it's at least 6 months away. I believe the original publisher for the first books was Henry Holt. Their website is at www.henryholt.com - they should be able to tell you if there is a scheduled date - if you find out, please post a message to let the forum know!

I loved this book. I could really relate to the way La Vaughn felt and I thought Wolff's use of stream of consciousness to convey thoughts a feelings was brilliant. I also read Make Lemonade and loved it. I can't wait until the third book comes out. Does anyone know when it is supposed to be published?

This book is wonderful. I bought it after reading Make Lemonade, which was just as terrific as True Believer. I was upset to learn that there were not more books by Virginia Euwer Wolff on the shelf at the bookstore! I recommend this book to any teenager who has an appreciation for literature. I read this book in under two hours! I even tried to take it to the dinner table with me! Of course that did not go over to well with my mother, so after eating quicky I ran to my room to finish it. I cannot wait until the last book about LaVaughn is out on the shelves!

True Believer is one of the best books I have read this year. Once I picked it up it was hard to put down. This book relates to teenagers like me and issues they have in highschool such as problems with friends, family, school, money, and dating. Although I have not read the first part of the Make Lemonade Trilogy, this book has inspired me to do so.Text

I loved this book! When I first opened it and saw how it was written in more of a free verse/poetic form, I was uncertain if I would like it. But after reading just the first section I could not put the book down! Virginia Wolff described everything that happened to LaVaughn so well, that I understood what she meant and even recognized some of the same feelings and thoughts that I had before. When I reached the end of the book I wanted to keep reading more. I can not wait for the third book to come out so I can find out what happens next! The only thing I didn't understand is:
what's the deal with Jody??? Is he really <<edited for potential plot spoiler content>> or was it really just a joke?? I also did not agree with what was being said about evolution pertaining to God and the Bible.
