My friend gave me a crate of books consisting mainly of travel guides for backpackers and "ultimate adventure-type" nonfiction. As a 29 year old guy who enjoys hiking and camping, I was immediately drawn to the picture and leading text on the front cover of Into the Wild. The tragic story was well-written and reseached by Krakauer, with my opinions of Chris' escapist adventure alternating between excitement and pity. I believe the filler stories were strategically placed to help us piece together the psyche of Alexander Supertramp. This book was a interesting read that was hard for me to put down and subsequently became the start of my Krakauer collection.

I'm reading the book for my english class and I think it's well writen. However, the book wasn't that interresting. I love the writting style and the way the author anquiered the informations. When I read the book, I couldn't really remember everything that happened since it was just different accounts of different people that met him. I mean, if you like those kind of books, read it. You may learn a lot from it about yourself and how you view life.

John Krakauer is an amazing writer, and his manner of telling the story of this lost soul is so intriguing! It's a quick read, but the reader gets so hooked, you can't stop reading! This book might make you rethink what you're doing in your own life.

I didn't like your book. Its evil and the book made no sense. It's based on other people's stories and that they knew him and that he was a good kid excepat that he had a temper so thats why he left his family. But nobody really knows and the book tells you almost nothing that makes sense and that the other stories don't go along with what happened to him and the other men that have dead in the wild of Alaska. It is a beautiful place but too many people want to live on the land and you can't live off the land without the proper tools.

I READ THIS BOOK FOR A BIOGRAPHY FOR SCHOOL. (I AM IN MIDDLE SCHOOL) I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO BE EASY AND GREAT. INSTEAD WHAT I GOT STUCK WITH WAS A LOT OF WORK AND DIGGING FOR INFORMATION. THIS BOOK IS A GREAT READ JUST FOR FUN, BUT IF YOU HAVE TO FIND OUT INFORATION OR DO EXTENDED SEARCHING ON THE INTERNET, THIS IS NOT THE BOOK. IT IS A GREAT STORY, WHICH I'M SURE IS FULL OF TRUE FACTS. I MYSELF ENJOYED THE BOOK AND CAN RELATE TO SOME OF HIS FEELINGS. BUT AGAIN, IF YOU NEED TO FIND A BOOK FOR SCHOOL TO GET INFORMATION FROM, THIS IS NOT THE BOOK!

well let me just tell you now, it is an interesting book at the begining and then end, the middle really puts you to sleep but all in all its pretty good

Great adventurous book. It wasn't even confusing and I didn't want to put it down and I have never liked reading.

Wow, this is incredibly boring...stay away!! Every time i tried reading it, i fell asleep!! However, if you really love semi-biographical-nature-type books and you REALLY try to get "into it"...it's not that bad. I'm just warning you...it can be REALLLLL boring!!
