Barbara Kingsolver has won the Orange Prize for Fiction for The Lacuna. The Orange Prize carries a 30,000 UK pound award (about US$48,000) award, and winners receive a bronze figurine nicknamed the "Bessie."
According to Daisy Goodwin, chair of judges, The Lacuna was chosen for its "breathtaking scale and shattering moments of poignancy"
