Topping the chart is Lauren Myracle's "IM" series, the novels, told through instant messages, are criticized for nudity, language and drug references.
And Tango Makes Three, which topped the list for the past three years, dropped to second place; and the Harry Potter books dropped off the top ten for the first time in years.
Coming in fifth are Stephanie Meyer's Twilight books, and seventh is My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult. Various perennial 'offenders' fill out the top ten list including , Catcher in the Rye, The Color Purple and To Kill A Mockingbird.
According to the ALA, for every challenge recorded, about four or five end up unreported.
