Children's books 'by the numbers'

Publishers Weekly's regular "By The Numbers" olumn focuses on children's books, noting that over 900 million children's books sold in the USA in 2007 for a total market value of $3.7 billion. The number of new titles and revisions published in 2007 was 30,000, which is about on a par with 2002. The largest 2007 first printings are for Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer (3.2 million copies) and Christopher Paolini's Brisingr (2.5 million copies).
