Barnes and Noble to close one-third of stores over next 10 years

Barnes & Noble has announced that it will likely close about a third of its 689 retail stores over the next decade. According to Mitchell Klipper, CEO of B&N's retail group, the slimmed down chain represents "a good business model," as currently only about 20 stores operate as a loss. The closures will not impact the 674 college stores that B&N operates as these are run separately from the retail division.
