Granta has produced a list each decade since 1983. The 1983 list included Martin Amis, Ian McEwan, Pat Barker and Rose Tremain. The list in 1993 included Jeanette Winterson and Alan Hollinghurst. Notables from 2003 were Sarah Waters, Monica Ali and Zadie Smith.
