Amazon.com has reached an agreement to acquire Goodreads, a leading site for readers and book recommendations that helps people find and share books they love. The deal is expected to close in the second quarter of 2013.
The purchase comes amid mounting rumors that Goodreads, which CEO Otis Chandler launched in 2007, might start selling books directly from its site.
Amazon already owns Shelfari and has part ownership in LibraryThing
