In a series of moves meant to expand Barnes & Noble’s digital offerings, the company on Tuesday introduced two new color tablets and said a video store for its Nook products would make its debut this fall.
The new devices are a seven-inch tablet for $199, called the Nook HD, and a nine-inch tablet for $269, the Nook HD Plus. Company executives promoted them as being lighter and faster than comparable tablets, a market that is crowded with competitors from Apple, Amazon and Google.
B&N also plans to launch Nook Video this Fall, which will stream movies and TV shows from a range of studios.
