Tulane is fairly predictable but the writing is anything
but. DiCamillo's art is to play our heart strings like a maestro
using the vocabulary of a third-grader.
If you can find an excuse to buy this for a child of your
acquaintance I suggest you do so soon - but before you give it
away, take a few moments to enjoy the story yourself - and when
you do gift it you might want to write a dedication to the lucky
recipient because, whereas most children's books get passed on
when the child grows out of them, this book is a keeper.
