Exchanged identities

I was surprised to learn of the assumed identity toward the end of the book. I've thought of such situations as they have been popularlized in the Madmen television series and in the book Triangle: A Novel by Kaharine Weber. I wonder if others have read of people - fiction and in real life - who took another's identity in order to start a new life.

RE: Exchanged identities

There is a recent book by S. J. Watson called "Before I Go to Sleep" that includes this situation. I hesitate to say more since that would be a major plot spoiler!

RE: Exchanged identities

I could never figure out if Dolly's husband knew who she really was. Any thoughts?

RE: Exchanged identities

This is an answer to robynr question: Did Dolly husband know who she really was.

My answer is that she never told him--that would probably have ruined her marriage and she had too much to lose.

RE: Exchanged identities

Lindav,
Would have been easier to keep the secret if her husband hadn't shown up looking for her. Lot of explaining to do after she killed him.
