At the end of the novel Lucy says that she is "done waiting for ghosts." Do you think she will be able to walk away from her "ghosts" forever? Do you think it's possible to truly put away the past.

I do. Especially if you are a strong person and remove yourself from the environment where you first "dealt with" the ghosts.

I think it is almost impossible to put away the past, it might not be in the forefront of your everyday life, but it is there and when least expected it shows it’s ugly head, Especially in the case of Lucy who really had her share of ugliness and terror

I think she will. Even though you never forget you can learn to live with your painful experiences and they become part of who you are.

I think you can if you are strong enough and have a place to go. The past will always impact her life consciously and/or unconsciously but it can make you stronger

I don't feel anyone, including Lucy, is able to totally walk away from his/her past. Even a relatively "normal" childhood becomes part of who we are and how we move through our lives.

I do not feel Lucy will walk away from her ghosts, I think there will always be times that she will think of her Mother. I also feel that as long as she lives in Henbane, there will times where she will be reminded of and think of Cheri. She seems to be able to deal with her Uncle Crete's "dual" personality - exploitive and heartless to the weak, but protective to his own family, by the end of the book. And she seems happy that her father's property is restored and with her family and friends left in Henbane. I think she will learn to deal with the ghosts and maybe, minimize her uncle's crimes, but I don't think she'll truly forget them. She cared for them too much.
