My favorite artist, other than my husband Bill Brody, is Van Gogh. I love the way he uses Cypress trees and sunshine to show the downs and ups of his mood. I have read his correspondence with his brother Theodore and wish he had lived to see the renown that came to him and his work. I find beauty in the way he uses brush strokes and his subject matter. I have seen his work in multiple museums and no matter how many times I view each of his works, I am still overwhelmed by their beauty.

I know very little about art, but I saw David and the Sistine Chapel ceiling this summer, so I'm picking Michelangelo. Even I can see how spectacular his work is.

I love Georgia O'Keefe. I love her bright colors and vibrant flowers. They never fail to make me happy

When I lived in Cincinnati I used to frequent the Cincinnati Museum of Art. They had a small landscape by Cezanne I just couldn't take my eyes off -- The Bridge Of Trois-sautets. I loved the use of light and color, and the suggestion of so much with just a few brush strokes; it really sparked my imagination. I've since seen reproductions (I actually bought a print to hang in my apartment) but they were never the same as seeing the real thing.

My own growth as an artist has made me so much more aware of all different art forms. I am drawn to watercolor as a medium but I still am in awe of those who work in oil, as well as other forms or art. I love the Getty Museum and as we travel am checking out galleries and museums.

I will admit there isn't mystery in my own work! Except sometimes I wonder in hind sight how I managed to paint the images I see before me!
Though I have gotten rid of all the failures!!!

I have several prints of the painter, Mary Cassatt. She was an American painter during the early twentieth century but she spent most of her career in France. Her work was exhibited with other Impressionists. Cassatt often expressed the intimate bonds between mothers and children in her paintings. I think this is the purest and most relevant human bond and I am touched by the emotion in her paintings.

I am a fan of the Impressionists - particularly Monet. I just love the soft, blurring of colors as well as the gentle, peacefulness of most of his work.

When it comes to current artists I am very fond of my late mother-in-law's (B. Cummings) work. She was a well-know regional artist in Minnesota and the upper Midwest. I am also a fan of another regional artist from this part of the country - Ellen Jean Diedtrich. Her work is similar to the Impressionists, but deals with regional scenes familiar to people from ND, SD and MN.

I have siblings, children and friends who are artists and am so frustrated to be totally untalented. I have for years been a devoted admirer of Monet. Have numerous prints of his work, seen lots of his paintings in museums and even visited his home and garden in Giverney, France. Many of the other impressionists are also favorites, but Monet wins for me.

Rembrandt is my favorite artist. His colors are so beautiful, so deep and have been difficult for artists to reproduce. I understand that the quality of paint through the years have made a difference. My favorite of his is Little Girl In The Window. I have tried art in many different medium and have not succeeded. I will diligently admire the beautiful works of our artists.

Oh that is a very difficult question to answer...I seem to like BEST the artist whose work I am standing in front of. Naturally, there are many pieces of art that I pass right by but when I stand & look I see so much glory ~ no matter the medium.
I have to say currently I am now in awe of the Impressionist ~Van Gogh, Monet, others have captured me. I want to take an art class, also, and continue to be blessed to travel & see many more famous artists. I also love Georgia O'Keefe ~ you name them & I'll say, Oh yes, that one also ~ Art & music ~ can we get enough? I have a family friend, Lincoln Fox, does sculptures that I love.
