How has Kate Morton developed Jimmy's character to make him so likable? Did you like him?

Jimmy wants to provide a good life for the woman he loves. He puts up with some strange quirks in the woman he loves and goes against his own instincts of something being not-quite-right to try and make her happy. In addition, he takes care of his ailing, aged father

Jimmy was a caring, responsible man. He loved and cared for his father, he loved Dolly in spite of her self-centeredness (in fact he didn't even really see it), and he cared for Vivien. He was trusting and kind. He was sensible and was working toward a goal. He seemed to be a man any woman could fall in love with.

There was just something about Jimmy. He was honorable. He was a character you knew you could depend on. The kind of guy that would make wrong things right. It was apparent in how he stood by Dolly at her most delusional, in how caring he was with Vivien, and how he cared for his father. He was the all around nice guy.
