I am, actually! :)

I am, actually planning to see "The Great Gatsby" in the theater this month, as I was most enthused to read that it's more of a direct exploration of the original work than the previous film that was released. I must admit, that I was agreeing with the blogger who was cross-comparing the two films, as everything that came forward out of reading "Z" eludes to the larger than life displays that I presume are threaded throughout "Gatsby", by which I do not know firsthand as of yet, as I recently picked the book up at my local library! It's always my intent to try to read a book ahead of a motion picture, and I believe, in that one regard alone, I might be more successful this year than in year's past!

I knew after concluding the story of "Z", and my participation in this discussion thread, that I would be drawn into F. Scott and Zelda's writings,... I didn't iron out a direct plan of what I would read next, and so, when I realised that the film would release in May, I decided to make that my next book to read, to bring me full circle: I started out with a superficial knowledge of both husband and wife, as anyone who reads literature knows of certain authors and their wives, but might not have a working knowledge of who they were when they lived. Now, I find myself intriqued to learn more, and the best way to do that is to read their stories. Follow them through their literary offerings, and understand more of them through their own words.

I'm quite stoked that this release coincides nicely with our discussion of "Z", and I am hopeful that what we are revealing about their lives through this forum, might encourage more to not only see the film, but read the book ahead of it, and take a chance on "Z" at the very same time, as I still commend the author's ability to present Zelda's voice with such honest clarity.

No--I loved the book, and I don't want to be disappointed.

The trailers looked pretty good to me. I've read the book several times, so I think I'll check out the film.

I am planning to see the new movie version, just slightly out of curiosity and because I have a couple of unused movie gift cards. I am a little more interested in a movie version after reading "Z" However, he previews of the movie did not seem compelling to me. A bit heavy on the special effects and the leading female actress just doesn't fit the mental image I have of the character. Interestingly, a woman friend who was at the theater with me when the previews for "Gatsby" showed, turned to me and said, "That actress just doesn't do it for me in that part." The movie version with Mia Farrow was disappointing years ago, and somehow, despite all of the special effects, I'm not sure the new version is really going to capture the story as well as the picture we readers often have in our heads.

Nope, I'm going to skip it. The coming attractions look so overblown and over-produced. I think at this point I'm just as happy to let the book live in my head.

I saw it last weekend. I thought it was amazing! To me, they totally nailed the spirit and themes of the book.
